The resolution process is an important part of the SSCCC governance. The SSCCC is a nonprofit organization that is guided by its membership -- Delegates from each of the 116 California Community College student body associations. Students from across the state bring resolutions to the annual General Assembly for consideration. The resolutions passed by the Delegate Assembly guide the vision and priorities of the SSCCC. Below is a list of the most recent resolutions passed by the delegates since Fall 2007.
WHEREAS, the California Community College’s (CCC) web portal provides an option for a “preferred name” but exclude a “pronoun preference” option;
WHEREAS, the California Community College Chancellor’s Office’s Vision for Success states “Our vision is to the point: making sure students of all backgrounds succeed in reaching their goals and improving their families and communities” ; and
WHEREAS, many CCCs have adopted gender inclusive language, and curriculum, campaigns and/or programs to educate the campus and community on gender inclusivity, pronouns, and other issues that affect the LGBTQIA+ community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Student Senate for California Community Colleges work with the California Community College Chancellor’s Office to provide an option of a “pronoun preference” in the CCC web portal at the time of registration; and
RESOLVED, that the Student Senate for California Community Colleges works with the California Community College Chancellor’s Office to advocate that each CCC provides an option of a “pronoun preference” in the web portal at the time of registration.
