The SSCCC General Assembly is currently accepting proposals for workshop session presenters. We welcome you to become an integral part of this annual event. During this event, the SSCCC invites groups of students, associated student body organizations, partners, and other stakeholders to provide the platform for insightful and empowering discussions and collaboration between students, educators, and other interested parties.
This year's conference theme centers on "Strength in Numbers: Community Voices Uniting for Change”. The following are the Workshop Strands for this year’s conference:
Amplifying Underrepresented Voices for Lasting Change
These workshops focus on empowering the voices of marginalized and underrepresented communities, ensuring their perspectives play a meaningful role in shaping policies, culture, and narratives. Through hands-on sessions, participants will explore advocacy strategies, inclusive storytelling, allyship, and community organizing. Discussions will center on breaking down structural barriers, fostering equitable spaces, and sharing authentic stories that inspire real, lasting change. Whether you’re a student leader, educator, activist, or ally, these workshops will equip you with the tools to amplify unheard voices and drive meaningful impact in community colleges and beyond.
Cultivating Belonging: Nurturing Community Connections
Workshops in this strand are about helping students feel like they truly belong in their college communities by creating meaningful connections. Participants will explore ways to build inclusive spaces where students feel recognized, valued, and supported. Through discussions and hands-on activities, participants will learn how to boost social-emotional well-being, foster collaboration among peers, and break down barriers to inclusion. Whether you're a student leader, educator, or administrator, this series will give you practical tools to build positive relationships, celebrate diversity, and empower students to succeed academically and personally.
The Art of Empowerment: It Starts from Within
Workshops in this strand highlight the connection between personal and professional growth as key to true empowerment. These sessions will help boost self-awareness, build resilience, and overcome self-doubt to unlock full potential. Through reflective exercises and practical tools, participants will learn how to align their mindset, emotions, and actions with building confidence, setting healthy boundaries, and advocating for their goals. Whether navigating career challenges or focusing on personal growth, these workshops offer actionable strategies to inspire lasting, meaningful change. Empowerment isn’t a final destination—it’s an ongoing, transformative journey.
Resources for Student Success
Workshops in this strand focus on supporting students as they advocate for key priorities like addressing food insecurity, affordable housing, financial aid reform, immigration support, and other essential needs. While these resources exist, students often need guidance to navigate them and assist their peers effectively. These sessions provide tools to help students identify available resources, share them across their campus and community, and ensure equitable access.
Deadline: Proposals are due no later than Monday, February 24, 2025.
