Q: What is the SSCCC 2025 Advocacy Day?
A: The Student Senate for California Community College’s Advocacy Day takes place on the morning of Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 1021 O St., Sacramento, CA. This is an opportunity for students to meet with state representatives and advocate for SSCCC’s 2025 legislative priorities.  SSCCC staff will set up meetings for students beforehand and will provide training and talking points during a recorded webinar in the weeks leading up to Advocacy Day.


Q: What is the March in March?
A: Following the morning advocacy visits, students are invited to join the March in March at Southside Park in Sacramento by 2 pm. Students, faculty, and staff will march from the park to the west steps of the Capitol, where SSCCC and faculty groups from throughout the state will hold a rally for students’ rights. The rally will feature Legislators, students, and faculty speakers. Free shirts will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.


Q: When and where is the event?
Advocacy Day: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM at 1021 O Street. This is where most legislative offices are.
March in March: Starts at Southside Park and ends at the west steps of the Capitol; please arrive before 2:00 PM.
 

Q: Who should attend this event?
A: All California Community College students, staff, and faculty are welcome! RSVP here.
 

Q: How can my SBA fund travel for Advocacy Day and March in March?
A:
Submit a funding request to your Student Government.
Use Student Representation Fees to cover expenses for this event.
Be sure to check your college’s travel requirements early. Some require 30 more days notice.
 

Q: Is the SSCCC providing travel, hotels, or meal accommodations?
A: No, the SSCCC is not providing accommodations, but we can make recommendations. Please reach out to mhutchinson@ssccc.org.


Q: What can we do before the March begins if we are not doing Advocacy Visits?
A: There will be booths, activities, and materials for making signs available at Southside Park before the event.
 

Q: My school plans on arriving via bus or van. Where should we park?
