The Student Senate for Community Colleges has completed its 27th General Assembly, held this year on March 31 - April 2, 2023, in Long Beach, CA. This event was hybrid with more than 600 students and advisors participating in more than 30 workshops, which were only held in person while more than 40 participants joined online for the general sessions. The event kicked off on Friday with the State of the Senate address provided by the six SSCCC Executive Officers. President Tervalon informed participants that the SSCCC is strong and shared the organization's many accomplishments.
On this first day, the delegates also nominated 30 students for the 2023 – 24 Board Officer positions, celebrated three students who received the third annual student leadership award from the California Community College Board of Governors, as well as participate in nine workshops on a variety of subjects.
The second day was just as successful! The morning began with a presentation on the SSCCC 2023 - 25 Strategic Plan, resolution debate, and voting, and ended with participants enjoying 21 workshops on a variety of subjects.
On the final day of the general assembly, the delegates voted for the 2023 – 24 Board Officers and concluded with voting on resolutions. The draft minutes are available at this link and the Final Resolution results can be viewed at this link.
