Jerry Reyes
Jerry Reyes (He/His/Him) is a first-generation student at Reedley College studying Business Administration with a focus on Marketing and Entrepreneurship, holding an Associates Degree in History. His goal is to transfer to Fresno State to further his education and advance his entrepreneurial ambitions.
He plans to use his degrees to support his entrepreneurship endeavors and potentially start or aid a non-profit organization. He aims to give back to his community, which has been instrumental in his journey, and hopes to contribute to student success stories by pursuing a career in Higher Education administration. In his future, he envisions himself serving as a Trustee and eventually as Chancellor for his home district, State Center Community College District.
Jerry has been proactive at Reedley College and the State Center CCD, having served as Inter-Club Council President, Associated Student Government President, and State Center CCD Student Trustee. He has actively participated in campus governance committees and founded both the Safe Space Club and the Latino Student Association, where he held the presidency for each. In his time with the SSCCC, he contributed at regional and state levels, serving as Communications Officer and Legislative Affairs Director for Region V representing the Central Valley statewide.
He is deeply committed to addressing issues such as basic needs, equity and inclusion, financial aid, and improving educational opportunities for underrepresented communities, including undocumented and DACA students. He advocates for the prioritization of Open Educational Resources to reduce financial barriers and supports campus accessibility and diverse transportation options to foster inclusive college communities. He will also advocate for the enhancement of universal design for learning to ensure equitable access to education for all students. Overall, Jerry is dedicated to advancing educational equity and ensuring no student population is left behind.
