Alec Sarkissian
Alec Sarkissian (he/him) is a first-year Political Science major at Sacramento City College, preparing to transfer to UC Berkeley and later pursue a J.D. at Georgetown University with the goal of becoming a lobbyist. He has a strong foundation in advocacy, policy research, and association management, focusing on Armenian-American issues and local governance. Alec currently serves as Secretary of Legislative Affairs at Sacramento City College and interns at Shaw Yoder Antwih Schmelzer & Lange, a top California advocacy firm.
His experience includes internships with Mayor Martha Guerrero in West Sacramento and with the Armenian National Committee of America in Washington, D.C., where he lobbied for the Armenian Protection Act of 2023-2024 (S. 3000). Alec also works to reduce the stigma around community college, offering career workshops and creating internship opportunities for Sacramento City College students. He aims to be a resource for community college students on legislative and academic issues, focusing on tuition policies and academic freedom.
