Khadijah Atthar
Khadijah Atthar is a dedicated advocate for equity and justice, combining her passion for leadership and her commitment to social impact. Currently serving as a senator in the Associated Students of Folsom Lake College, Khadijah is in her second year majoring in political science. She is actively involved in participatory governance, contributing as a member of the Diversity and Equity Committee and serving as Secretary of the Basic Needs Committee. In these roles, she focuses on supporting student parents by advocating for essential resources and ensuring curriculum affordability.
Khadijah’s professional experience includes interning with the legal team of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), where she gained invaluable insights into the legal system and worked closely with victims of Islamophobia. Her legislative advocacy efforts with CAIR contributed to the successful passage of a public transit bill that improved safety for minorities. Additionally, she has engaged in political canvassing for Sunnyvale's Vice Mayor Omar Din, furthering her dedication to civic engagement.
Beyond advocacy, Khadijah serves as Vice President of the Muslim Student Association at Folsom Lake College and Secretary of the Model United Nations at American River College. She is also an editor for Globus Mundi, the only published community college academic journal in California. As a student intern at the Secretary of State’s office, Khadijah has organized voter hotlines and spearheaded initiatives to enhance voter engagement and civic awareness.
Khadijah is preparing to transfer to a UC by Fall 2025, with aspirations of pursuing a career in law focused on immigration at Yale or UCLA. When she is not actively working on her goals, Khadijah spends her time with friends and family.
