Brandon Maskey
Brandon Maskey (he/him/his) is a Political Science Major at Diablo Valley College with plans to transfer to a 4-year university to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He currently serves as the Vice President of Legislative Affairs for the Associated Students of Diablo Valley College (ASDVC). One of his proudest accomplishments as a member of ASDVC was attending the American Student Association of Community Colleges’ National Student Advocacy conference in Washington D.C., where he advocated at the office of Congressman Mark Desaulnier, urging for federal investments in long-term, affordable student housing.
Earlier this summer, Brandon interned for the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs (APAPA), a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing Asian American representation in government by collaborating with elected officials to develop the next generation of AAPI leaders in America. Brandon is eager to pursue a leadership position in a city, state, or national organization to represent and advocate for his constituents.
Brandon is passionate about expanding public transportation for students, increasing student accessibility to basic needs that uphold existing state laws, (ex. AB 367, AB 612, AB 942), opening up a conversation about student housing on community college campuses, and listening to other college’s pertinent issues. He is focused on providing clear communication between SSCCC and Region III, in addition to being a dedicated representative for Diablo Valley College.
Outside of holding a part-time job with the Parks & Recreation department of his hometown, Brandon enjoys spending time at socials with fellow members of Kabayan Kaibigan, the official Filipino club at Diablo Valley College, as well as getting stumped solving the daily Wordle, Connections, Strands, and Mini Crossword using his college-provided New York Times subscription.
