LaTasha Buie "Tash"

My name is La Tasha Buie (She/Her) many may know me as “Tash Buie”. I am a first generation college student, a parent, a Rising Scholar, and a BIPOC. I attend Mount San Antonio College; aka Mt.SAC located within the city of Walnut, near West Covina in Southern California. Growing up I was known as a military brat and a S.O.D.A. (sibling of a deaf adult). My family spent a lot of time camping, fishing and traveling. Today, I find relaxation by seeking time to enjoy nature, comedy, travel, art/photography, puzzles and family time. I am currenting focusing on a major in Sociology and Social Justice as a base to my goal of becoming a strong advocate. While in college one of my focus areas is the DV (domestic violence) community. This passion to advocate for others has followed me since a young age of 5 years old. At Mt.SAC I started by contributing to the college community as an ICC representative for their Transfer Club. In addition to being a student voice on campus wide committees, councils, task force, and Ad HOC. This coming Fall ‘24 I will continue as an assistant to the Student President on the Executive Board in my 2nd term as the Chief of Staff, for Associated Student Government. Prior to my current position, I served as an Associated Justice within the branch of our Student Court. In understanding that we live in a world of a volume of communication, it behooves me to appreciate the different forms of communicating. I have learned that as an ACCESS student
there are various forms of communication and I am inquisitive in contributing to the process for an optimist outcome experience. So as I carve my pathway.
